Hello;

I'd like to know what is Cotonti licence. Can it be used for commercial purposes, for example? What about copyright in footer?

I'm currently on eZ Publish, they allow to remove copyright from footer of the site. However, in many aspects eZ Publish is pissing me of, so I'm looking for an alternative...

Any response would be appreciated.

Cotonti uses the BSD licence, which means you are free to use it for commercial purposes (everything exept illegal stuff is allowed). You may remove the copyright notice from Cotonti if you want.

Yes, Koradhil is absolutely correct. The only limitation of BSD is that if you make a product out of Cotonti you cannot claim it was done by yourself from scratch, the origin should be mentioned somewhere (in credits, etc.) and the authorship must not be removed from source files. But as for on-site copyright notice, it may be removed if you wish.
May the Source be with you!

The rules are strict but there is no control over source files.

And about the copyright, what bothers you about it ? I don't even look most of the sites bottom usually...

I'm happy with the BSD license causes it saves me money :-) I'm using Cotonti in client's websites. If I'd use Seditio I would have to pay for it (because they are commercial sites usually). Not that its a lot of money but it also saves the hassle of paying a frenchman (I don't use paypal because I don't have a creditcard).
Oh and by the way, I suggest organising a money raiser for Neuro, he deserves it.

It's because my Boss doesn't like copyrights. :/

For me for example, I always gladly expose copyrights on my private sites everytime, and additionally give links back in links section. One of my sites are still powered by Seditio, not I'm gathering strenght and resources to make a conversion. :)

And yes, if you have paypal or something like that, I also would like to donate you for your excellent work. :) Not much, because I'm not rich, but 'always something'.

i would like to donate asswell, but i would invest the half price of the neuro fundation? to a bigger webhost over here ( so you could activate pfs on max and give members some space. ) handy for adding fast files in the forum when needed. not like using rapidshare or other things.

Or like once said. hire a proffesional skin designer for a basic skin of cotonti. the both ways
are attractive to getting more members.

And well, neuro, once cotonti will launch off with the more members there could be opend a donation for neuro.

Just a idea but whatever it would be i would be happy to donate.

Members do have space now, they had space before, but not much. They have like 10mb now, it may change later. Space really isn't a problem, but by the time someone uses 10mb, they could be promoted to another group likely.

I will see about getting up a paypal donate button soon, It nice to hear people are willing to donate.

To make a nice skin, you say? Well, if only I gather some time, I can contribute in this area as well. ^^
