Updating from Seditio to Cotonti

Members	OK so my site is Seditio not to sure what version. I wana Update to Cotonti with out Losing all the Users/Pages/Forums/News, is there any way to do this ? I also need to Convert my Current theme to Cotonti how hard will that be. Thanks for any help.

Team Thanked: 9 раз	Upgrading is not that hard. - Backup - Copy files of the latest version - Run all patch files in the sql-directory. Starting from 125-0.0.1 to 0.0.2 till 0.0.6. After 0.0.6 you need to go to 0.6.1 up to 0.6.14 Or check the video's: http://www.cotonti.com/docs/en/videos/upgradevideos/ For the skin. I'm afraid you have to do a lot of copy paste. ... can we help you ...

Members	so fallowing the upgrade does keep all my users and stuff cause i cant lose such a big community

My database has still LDU in his name And I'm running 0.6.14 for the moment. And I did already the test to Siena Beta, without any major problem. (Only plugin are not working correctly in Siena for the moment) Which plugins are you running in Seditio? ... can we help you ...

idd, best is to test it on a test server.
And don't forget to make a backup.

My own homepage is still an upgraded version from LDU.
My database has still LDU in his name

And I'm running 0.6.14 for the moment.
And I did already the test to Siena Beta, without any major problem. (Only plugin are not working correctly in Siena for the moment)

Which plugins are you running in Seditio?

Team Thanked: 52 рази	I think you can get rid of the following plugins: autojoiningposts (if this means multiple posts in a row by same user get merged into a single post, this is default behavior of Cotonti) leetlogin (same effect can be achieved using template tags and regular login form in header) recentitems (comes with Cotonti by default) seourls (can be achieved using Cotonti urltrans functionality) textboxer2 (in Genoa this is replaced with Markitup, and in Siena its replaced by CKeditor) The others I'm not sure, but its very likely that there's similar plugins available or the effect can be achieved using templates in a smart way. Like pieter indicates, it's safest to make a copy of your site in another location first, then migrate that instance to Cotonti. Only if the migration is succesful you can move to the new site. Ofcourse there's a chance that your old site gets updated (new forum post for example) while you're doing the migration, so its possible you will lose those changes (unless you migrate them seperately or you close the site temporarily).

At that moment you don't lose time to solve the errors on your live site. You can copy the new files to your site and do only the DB-migration again, so you don't lose data. ... can we help you ...

You'll definitely lose some functionality, and maybe even some data (really depends on what you have right now). If I were to do this myself I'd probably just take the database and update that do the Siena format (by running all the upgrade scripts) and not care about any of the files (except for PFS files and avatars/photos ofcourse), including my skin. Perhaps I'd even choose to leave some data, to start with a clean slate. Maybe even go as far as to migrate only useraccounts and pages. But that's really up to you.

So im asking you, Do any of u have or know where i can get them.

The Update to Cotonti For GOM is depending on these Since we are currently running LDU 802.
