i was thinking about a deployment generator for cotonti.
we could do a easy wizard-like system where you can select different configurations for a release to download here on the site. so we could make installation much easier because if you dont want the forum you just check it off and only the relevenat files get included in the archive you can download. as a sample you could take: http://jqueryui.com/download that. i would like to hear your pros and cons on that topic... A similar system is already integrated into the new siena installer. During installation you can check and uncheck the modules (forums, pfs, pm...) and plugins as needed. Not exactly the solution you've suggested, but for me it's a very good one.

Actually this is something we're planning to implement on the site. Probably there will be a couple of preconfigured packages you can choose from.
And like schulle4u said, the Siena installer script contains a list where you can select which modules/plugins to enable by default. The downside is that this still requires downloading the whole package instead of choosing modules/plugins beforehand and thus reducing the download size. |
