i have quite good results when simply adding hidden (put them in a div style="dispaly:none;") inputs and call them prename, surname, adress etc. like that

now comes the trick.
you have to check if they got filled out,
if they got filled out you can be 80% sure it was a bot

a regular user wont see the field and thus cannot enter anything...
its not a 100% solution but as i said it works for me quite good. i never had one bot registering @ my site since then
