Maybe i am terribly mistaken here... but Cotonti has become slow in loading...... a   660ms (onload: 3.41s).
(and these numbers are with cached files..)

maybe its just the server ???? or could it be Siena ??  (I am not used to this in genoa), and maybe I am just crazy..

(I do see a wopping 1.3Mb JS file... whoooaaa)

I am allready sorry for my remarks, but I am a speed junky... i really like speedy websites..
(I probably get pissed over now...)

Performance here is bad, I confirm. I guess some bugs in this version might be causing it (just try to search for example).

Are you talking about this website, or the CMS in general? We have migrated to another server a while ago but that has only increased performance as far as I know. The switch to Github has also reduced load on the server since it no longer has to run Trac (which is an extremely resource demanding application, with memory usage over 90% for a single page load).

This sounds like a problem with your host. I assume you mean on your sites.

No I meant this website... i dont know the cause, but this site is sluggish..

If you haven't tried, what do you know about its stability )))

@ esclkm

well, uhm, maybe the response of trustmaster and others? that Sienna still isn't stable enough for live sites. Think they'd know if it's stable or not.
One of the reasons that I'm not using Sienna is because of the response of my question here:

For me cotonti.com loads in approximately 100 to 300 MS, depending which page is being loaded. The main page needs some more time to load while forums and other subpages come up faster, sometimes under 100 MS. Maybe the main page needs some more time because of the github ticket counter? But even 200 MS are not that bad in my opinion.

The loading is not purely what is said on the bottom (footer) of cotonti... page created
The loading and also the user experience is depending on many different things... like the amount of JS that is executed by the client.

The screenshot illustrates it: it is a screenshot from Firebug and the page (this post) takes 4 seconds to complete all its tasks..
Page created says 0.217 s  (but remember page created is server Side !!!!, that is the time to push out the HTML)

Can anyone confirm my Firebug numbers.... to rule out my internet and PC

i agree when it comes to loading times - huge files... 15seconds loading from from empty cache.

I think you're missing the point in the definition of 'not stable'. The word suggests that the software causes unexpected and random bugs. However in this context it's used to mean 'not proven to be without bugs'. In practice it means the software is 99% stable, but since improvements are still coming up regularly, it's not acceptable for high-load, popular websites. I think the core is stable enough, it's mainly the modules that still have some bugs. Personally I think Siena is already stable enough for 90% of websites.

The page creation time is the time it takes PHP to generate the page (from incoming request to flushing the html to the browser). The browser calculates something entirely different, namely the page load time. The page load time is the sum of the request time, page creation time, download time for the html and download time for all the other resources (css, images and javascript), in that order.

Aparently the problem with the load time on cotonti.com is caused by the loading of resources, not the page creation time. This means it has nothing to do with the engine. Siena or Genoa, it won't make much of a difference.

Judging by the screenshot urlkiller posted, it's caused by the javascript consolidator that generates a 1.3mb file. It will take some time to figure out why it takes so long to load, and why the file is that big in the first place.

Hey guys,

I'm just back home from a vacation and ready to reply to some posts here.

Our system administrator reported huge packet losses while transmitting from the Hetzner datacenter a few days ago, so I suppose such long requests were caused by that. Currently data loss is about 10%. So it shouldn't load static resources for several seconds anymore. As for global.js, it may be generating for up to 10 seconds or so sometimes (only when it needs to regenerate the cache because of changes in js/css files) because of JS/CSS minification slowness, but this is very rare.

As Gert noticed, this has nothing to do with Siena, this is our host problem.

Added 13 minutes later:

Some static files are still slow to load, these are mostly CKEditor's files loaded via AJAX.

Added 18 hours later:

Found a bug in JS consolidator which results into huge global.js, see this issue.

Added 6 hours later:

Fixed the consolidator bugs, the pages should load much faster now and eat less bandwidth.

May the Source be with you!
