Something easier to spell and prenounce

Let's have some serious fun here. We would like to pick a fancier name for our 1.0 branch, because Renaissance is quite long, hard to spell and prenounce and smells with some old ages. We all enjoyed cities so far and would like to continue using names of UNESCO World Heritage cities as our branch names. Please consider city names only, there are place names in that list too, but we only pick cities like Genoa and Siena.

So please pick a nice city from that list that you think is handy for 1.0 (it should be less than 10 characters, easy to spell, prenounce and remember). Post it below. Then I'll pick a few of the proposed names and make a poll to decide the winner.

I begin the game with the city of Florence.

I'd go for Modena (just a couple of hundred miles to the north of Florence)

Maybe we should discuss and start a total new theme to use. I don't ever recall truely ever discussing, just talking vaugely a long time  ago with Trust about it

The World Heritage theme is purely a something I discovered in the naming of Genoa and Siena (they are both on the list), so it wasn't decided to be like that up front.

Reasons to go with this theme:

  • We're already on the path with Genoa and Siena.
  • It's an original theme, not used by other software projects as far as I know.
  • It relates to the international nature of Cotonti and its community.
  • It honours Cotonti's "heritage", Seditio.

Xochimilco or Choirokoitia sound cool and easily pronouncable to me wink

Actually, I like Valencia or Damascus.

Agreed with Koradhil about following this theme path.

I Vote Valencia!

Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defences each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace. - Bill Hicks

I think names have to be given by the country's order. Just value developers contribution by countries. If the first is Russia - choose among Russian cities, if NL - amound Holland, Belarus - Belorussian and so on

Stalingrad :)

I'd like to keep away from the countries where the most contributors are from, because it would cause a small conflict within the team. That's why I prefer neutral countries, such as Italy, Spain, etc.
