1. always show comments after the article text by default (most visitors don't want to click one more link to see the comments)
2. add "edit comment" function for moderators and admins

same with ratings: avoid separate page, replace standard rating with orkan's plug ( http://www.seditioforge.com/plugins/polls-raitings/one-click-vote-i113.html )

Optionally we could leave ability to show a page without comments and ratiings, but that's secondary.

IMO, existing comments should be completely replaced with a new module/plugin. Its architecture is poor and require tons of corehacks when you want to change something. What other features were requested for comments:

3. Complete add/edit/delete functionality depending on sed auth.
4. Pagination.
5. Support for "nested" view (tree-like).
6. Non-refresh edit with AJAX.

And could put comments and ratings together in 1 plugin. I've already made a similar plugin, it wasn't too hard.

I completely agree, just remove the entire hard code like comment link, leave only comments count, everything else can be done in the template

I think not worth investing in a plug ratings and comments

I think, "Support for nested type (tree-like)" must be deleted.

I hate tree-like comments/threads but some people request it as "must have". More opinions?

I hate it too, but it cost nothing in performance level, so why not?

Eh, yea I hate it to, Either take it out, or default off as an option to enable it. But it will take more coding to turn it into a tree system.

So, we'll see. If it has no performance drawbacks and not hard in implementation, we'll implement it as an option.

I think the same for polls. (No offense) (BTW, I agree about ratings with you)

I think the AJAX implementions are lame, we don't know much about AJAX yet. We don't know json libraries, don't know the proper usage of AJAX, JQUERY.

This N-0.0.2 will not be a very perfect release, but every release, it will get better. Patience.
