Bugfixing and evaluation cycle started

Sorry for that, we've been concentrated on introducing new features rather than fixing bugs so far. The feature freeze is announced for today, but it will most likely take a few days more to fix some critical things and publish the beta. Well, most probably it will still be alpha due to its real stability state, but it will start a big hunt for bugs anyways.

Now that userimages is a separate plugin, the config has to be cleaned:

I follow certain guidelines while building lang-files, so I'd like to keep them clean'n'clear. To do that:
  1. Before creating a lang-file please make sure lang-strings you're introducing do not exist in the main.en.lang.php
  2. Lang-strings in plugins shall follow the pattern plugincode_somevarname (lowercase), i.e.
    $L['recentitems_nonewposts'] = 'No new posts';
  3. Do not remove lang-strings from en or ru only. If you're not sure about what you're doing, ask for assistance. It is easier to sync strings manually each time than to find orphan strings after a dozen of commits.

Fresh install doesn't contain those fields.

Need help with Swedish translation?
Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defences each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace. - Bill Hicks

I tried to install and need MySQL 5.0.0 minimum.

Can this be overruled?
I asked for a upgrade on the host. But this takes time.

MySQL 5.5 has recently become General Availability (stable). Most hosts have 5.0 or 5.1. I think putting efforts into 4.1 support is not reasonable. I know Siena may seems quite "expensive" requiring at least PHP 5.2 and MySQL 5.0, but we look forward, not backward.

I asked for the upgrade, but was wondering if I could install it, just to have it run for testing some template converts.
Maybe not all working.

I agree with you Trustmaster, great that the team believes in using the latest, I agree that some backwards compatability is good but there is a reasonable level as you say.

I wrote a quote a while ago which I think is suitably fitting in a modern software world. "Looking forward never back maybe sideways still on track" - (C) Sacha Rice 2010

I am gearing up to work with Siena in a big way.
2011 is going to be a great year.

MySQL 5 is so common nowadays that it's not a problem to set it as a requirement.
There's a chance your host has both versions running, but your account is currently still linked to version 4. Some hosts do this so they don't break clients websites when upgrading.
Otherwise I would seriously consider switching webhost, because a good one keeps its software up to date.

google traduction spanish:

Hello! and tested version of sienna and my first impression was like watching a wordpress blog.

The admin panel if I like a lot, very nice.

But I like the look of Genoa. But just a personal opinion, no offense.

I'm not a programmer, mine is graphic design. I can not contribute much more than opinions.

Greetings and happy holidays to all, a great job they do, what a shame not to know English.

Alpha package updated to r1642. Online demo is temporarily down, it will be reloaded after we update some things on server.

@elfrenazo, thanks for having a look! Siena comes with a very basic layout theme, which we use as a basement for other themes to make. We wanted to provide it with another more colorful theme SymiSun, but it will be available as a 3rd-party package after release because we (Cotonti Team) cannot maintain it in real-time with every change we make.

Can we add errors here?

In admin.php?m=forums

1. Icon and text(eg. statistics) are not OK
2. Footer is not OK (I guess this was not ment like this.)
3. If I click on categories I get:
Link:admin.php?m=structure&n=forums
Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /home/XXXXX/public_html/_subsites/XXXXX/system/admin/admin.structure.php on line 53
This happens also by pages: admin.php?m=structure&n=pages

Also recent items gives me no info on the homepage. Even if I make a new page.
Maybe also caused by structure problem.

On index I can't click to go to admin-panel.
