Multi uploader?

it can be done a few ways but i really wanted it to login correctly and not just send stuff. so i spent some time intergrating it into cotonti better. the trouble is cotonti kept changing with new relases...well at least between the releases while i was working on it.

I had it working pretty well with the version of cotonti i built the gallery for. It was just a case of passing the Xp and cookies and stuff to the server and then resending back to the JS the new cookies and P which changes. Not sure how cotonti has changed but it worked fairly ok most of the time....yeah sometimes it failed...im not sure why. dates of cookies and sessions i assumed. When I said I'd leave Cotonti this was intended as a mention of absense. Right now there are some projects that need my attention which are not based on Cotonti. The one project that does use Cotonti doesn't use PFS. When working on the new PFS my main pitfall was the multi upload. I'd really like to see someone else taking on this task (uploading and adding to DB).

Concerning the physical folders, I suggest using mod_rewrite and sed_url() with callback to build fake subfolders, and putting all the actual files in the same folder, all with a random filename. 2. MultiUpload (I personally use SWFUpload, but we need to integrate better in Cotonti.

With Import plugin you must use FTP first (so the Cotonti CMS is not totally functional from everywhere on the web, via browser, and not even for a simple user, but only a Server-Admin with FTP account must go everytime on his own PC at home to manage files... What about if you were on holiday and you want to upload a photogallery of your travel from an Internet point? And what about if you are a simple user?)...

Actually, with the old lady, if you have to upload a very huge number of files (like the case of a gallery folder) you have to click 8 times the file input form in PFS and select files one by one, and repeat this operation till the end of your hundreds of files :(

Last but not least, I think it would be a good thing to implement drag&drop feature (with JS/ajax) between PFS window and markitUp...

Yes, Koradhils work was based on folders in folders mode.
So, I actually use folder mode, in other words: datas/users/user_id/files.ext (one folder per user).
Koradhils mode was: datas/users/user_id/subfolder1/files.ext, datas/users/user_id/subfolder1/subsubfolder/files.ext... then FISICAL folders... :/
I think if my website has 1000 users and each has at least 20 subfolders under his PFS folder, the datas/users/ folder on the Server would be a real jam, with many problems...

I think the old lady (but folder mode, not old userid mode) it's good enough.
The only features we need are multi upload, better TPL, better interface when pasting a file in markitUp editor (with the ability to insert also alt and title attributes for images and href description for other files...
Also, I would have the ability to view and use files that are uploaded like plublic by any user, so, if you upload a file in your file space and you set it as public I also can link to that file from my "file insert" module in markitUp...]]> Ср, 24 Лют 2010 01:07:52 -0000 ez

I might help you with PFS project if you like, Ez. I have some nice ideas.
Also, I might further improve the gallery I converted and adjust it to a new PFS. I only want a better RIA, web20 solution for uploading files and a better selection when using in pages.
BUT I have some nice techniques lying around now... and I could build the whole pfs again...
(based on the old lady.... but only now in RIA and not all in 1 php file and hardcoded html)

BUT I do not want to differ from Cotonti to much.....
So that's why I want to know the status off pfs. ( Is there a time estimation ???)

There is a big problem about it, though. As you know, Koradhil has left Cotonti and discontinued work on the PFS 2.0. Currently there are 2 possibilities:
  1. To roll PFS back to "the old lady" and apply TPL & RC support (we have such a version of it already)
  2. To find somebody who will continue Koradhil's work
The first way is very easy. But it means just dropping all the Korad's work, whereas some of it is really good (e.g., I like PFS functions).

Is the New 0.7 pfs ready for use...? (Because the old pfs should not be used any more)

The reason I ask, is because I am busy building a new pfs based on ajax,json and off course with TPL
I need this (yesterday :D ) for a project off mine... they don't like the pfs (i cannot blame them)
So I am building a new one :) (based on the old lady, but now on a good way).
(I have rebuild the upload files completely now)

But before I go further I would like to know some info about te current status off the new pfs..
