And it's also a question of audience. But people who are able to decode strange grafics (many of them have their difficoulties, not just blind people) should be able to answer simple questions. (The above is asking in which language the question is by the way)
And if people would use their brain a bit more when browsing the web, the need of over-compicated captchas would be much lower.

I would assume that ANY captcha is a 99% protection for a low-to-medium ranking site which 99% of all Cotonti sites are. If a spammer is trying to place ads at your site, "ban by email" is good for nothing, since switching to a different public mailserver is a one-minute job.
As regards "top-10" megasites, an overcomplicated captcha might inevitably cause loss of audience in comments (don't make me think!). The math Captcha does its work very well, I can recommend it. Since we installed this on our Seditio site after we too were being swamped with bots we never had a bot register ever again and we will continue to use it on our Cotonti website.

Very TRUE, but captcha is not the miracle cure for unwanted registrars.. :) , But it IS the cure for BOTS !
