Thanks for pointing me to the right line. Turns out two characters were placed at the front of the file, before
It hasn't appeared on any of the files on my computer so I'm guessing it was added by either the editing software server side, or as I suspect, Wordpad.

The text is chinese, but it is nothing that makes any sense, the problem is Text coming from datas/config.php on line 1 (the very top).

Our files contain nothing like that even in the slightest.

Edit the file to see if its like that on the server

Hi,

I've just installed Cotonti to my server (looks more flexible than Seditio). But I'm getting server error messages in Japanese or Chinese characters... has anyone had this issue? I tried searching for it but it just dragged up results for language packs (understandably).

When I put the page through a translator, it was as if it was not in Chinese when it came to the page, and returned some PHP error messages.
