Twiebie Yeah, I think the classic view is much better.

Macik Great. It has more Cotonti related structure. And more classic view by color scheme. And it's simple enough to be overall highly customizable.

Macik I'm back from vacations.

Looking at Cotonti Reactor and my thoughts are:

  • now it distant from Cotonti specifics as it aims pointed for blog/portfolio only and not conform to forum or tech-site with rare news update or text only news
  • It can be used as one of box themes
  • it required more preinstalled (sample) data (posts, news with graphics) for clean (new) CMF install to looks good enough from the box.
  • it required fine tuning for certain Cotonti blocks of data and plugins
  • the colors are very excited and pretender to play with it later for less vivid

Trustmaster Could you please explain what makes you think so? Colours? They will be in LESS variables so it will be very easy to create other colour schemes. It's not even insisted this light theme will be the default one. Tiles? There's a switch to classical list mode, and moreover it depends on what's in your TPL because these are just divs/panels.

Twiebie #39100 Trustmaster:

Here is the preview of the new Reactor theme by 486made:

Cotonti Reactor

It's very hipster and outstanding compared to thousands of Wordpress themes which have flooded the market.

It's hipster indeed, but a tad too much for me. It would probably fit on a trendy magazine'ish website but I'm not so sure about it as an out of the box theme for a CMF.

Trustmaster The preview is just an example, it tends to demonstrate how a media site would look like, instead of listing framework components. Framework components are yet TODO if the general design concept is accepted.

Any opinions?

Kort I do not think this has something to do with what we are looking for. This is portfolio/blog with extremely small emphasis on what it is all about: a PHP/MySQL framework.

Trustmaster Here is the preview of the new Reactor theme by 486made:

Cotonti Reactor

It's very hipster and outstanding compared to thousands of Wordpress themes which have flooded the market.

Key features:

  • Responsive, designed to be mobile-friendly and easy to fit for any screen size.
  • Flat, but not like iOS7 or Win8. It has its own style.
  • Multiple colour schemes. First 2 images demonstrate the standard light and dark themes. The 3rd image is an example custom scheme.
  • Blocks are easy to change and customize for any type of content, plugin or widget.

Coming soon:

  • New logo
  • Other pages

@aiwass: that guy still has Ukrainian citizenship so he can't accept PayPal. As for Bootstrap it won't be enforced. It's just standard themes that will be based on it. You are still free to do anything you want. And I think having fallback tpls use common Bootstrap standards in markup and class names is a helpful thing.

I like the logo.  Would look more modern with rounded edges, the colored squares.

Twiebie I quite like the idea of the coloured (building) blocks as an illustration of Cotonti's modular design.

#38957 esclkm:
Цветные кубики? Виндоус?

Color bricks?3/4 windows?

I think that's a little far-fetched.

Twiebie Looks nice. I like the blocks that still make up the shape of the letter 'C'.

Not entirely sure about the text shadow inset on the main text though, it might potentially be a problem when using the logo on different backgrounds.

aiwass They (486made.me) are based in Praha aka Prague which is in Europe :)
Either way, it's a good initiative.

I don't like Bootstrap because it becomes bloated as soon as you step out of the framework or basic design of the bootstrap CSS's,
having a CSS file that kills in some extent the design produced by Bootstrap, is to me a bad way. I would rather go with a grid system
that isn't carrying any design and from there have the freedom to roam freely.

If you have no idea what i mean, then this might explain it:
- Boostrap.css (All design etc. that bootstrap gives you)
- Yourown.css (Your design that in most cases will be the same as bootstrap but with overrides etc. in order to have it look your way, not like all other bootstrap basic designs)

...not to mention all the JS files needed in order to have it working. Good bye loadtimes!

Trustmaster Some of you may know that we're working on new default themes for Cotonti based on Twitter Bootstrap 3. Our CMS will look differently in one of the following releases.

Admin theme is mostly complete by now, but the following is still TODO:

  • Add some required features to Cotonti core.
  • Visual facelift.

As for the default site theme, we have the basic templates, but there are more things TODO:

  • New logo and colour scheme.
  • Unique site header.
  • Contents, blocks and plugins udpate to fit current needs.
  • Customized design for basic components http://getbootstrap.com/components/.

If we don't do it, every new Cotonti site will look like thousands of other Bootstrap-based sites.

We've asked our friends from http://486made.me to help us with new design stuff. Those guys are not from U.S./E.U., so they can't accept money from Cotonti's PayPal donations account. That's why we've added InterKassa payment method to http://www.cotonti.com/donate. So if you want to support this project, you can donate a small sum using InterKassa and your credit card (don't forget to switch InterKassa language to English).

Our goal is $300-500. We don't have a true Crowdfunding plugin to track progress, so I'll make weekly reports in this topic.

As soon as we have some sketches, we'll show them here. But don't expect anything beyond perfect. We need a new modern and attractive theme, not a pure perfection of all time.

Thanks!
