May I be so frank to ask when the plugins are converted from Genoa to Sienna?

I have based my first Cot skin on the Sienna branch, nevertheless the site I am building for uses quite a few Genoa plugins. When trying to upgrade the Genoa db to Sienna I had to disable all plugins to get the upgrade working. Basically the site now runs on it's standard plugins (plus the Pageavatar (thanks for that one, Kort) and the autoalias2.1)

What I need are the Sienna version of:

- tweetbutton

- minichat

- donations

- bbflow

I am not trying to rush anyone in his/her work, was just wondering when the plugins are getting overhauled, because it's to only thing preventing me from setting the sienna site to live.

Or am I totally wrong and is the Sienna branch meant for test use only?

If you enable Genoa compatibility plugin most Genoa plugins should work fine in Siena.

I suspect most plugins will not be converted at all, since that can be quite a bit of work and most plugin authors dont have time to fix their old plugins for Siena.

Siena should be used for new sites, it's not just for testing. Migrating from Genoa is a bit of work, but that's true for any major upgrade.

Well, You'd think that it would work, but as example I will use the minichat plugin:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare minichat_build() (previously declared in F:\xampp\htdocs\test\sienna\plugins\minichat\inc\minichat.functions.php:25) in F:\xampp\htdocs\test\sienna\plugins\minichat\inc\minichat.functions.php on line 154

AS I am no php programmer, I have no clue how to solve these kinds of errors. Can these kinds of error be fixt with a work around, or should I just let the old plugins be the old plugins?

I understand why the plugin authors don't feel the need to upgrade all their stuff, but isn't that a bad thing for Cotonti itself?  I mean, you now have two branches, genoa and sienna. Genoa has a big load of plugins, but Sienna only has (atm) 3 or 4. You all have worked hard to get genoa to sienna and now you basically are telling me not to upgrade to sienna, coz it's meant for new sites.. Does this mean the Genoa branch keeps exsisting next to Sienna, or will it eventually be faded out?

Sorry for all the questions, but as I am fairly new to Cotonti, I do not quite understand which way to go with cotonti. I mean, i now have made a skin for Sienna, coz I was convinced that it was nessecary to upgrade to it, and now you tell me different. Which in theory means I have to convert the skin back to Genoa, in order to keep using the full potential of cotonti.
I must say I find it disturbing that this has to be so complicated, not mentioning the time that I have wasted on creating a Sienna skin.
