how to change News post date-stamp?

Members	is there any way to change the news plugin's date stamp from the standard 'day-month-year' ({PAGE_ROW_DATE}) to something more like ? just styling the news for a site i'm building & the bog-standard date style is a bit plain if i'm honest.
